It’s a secret performance is an artists’ initiative, founded in 2014 by composer Jue Wang, dedicating itself to produce immersive music theater projects. By bringing open-minded artists from different disciplinary together, we hope to foster experimentation from unconventional angles, and to deepen our sensitivity to each performative aspect. Circling around the idea of locating private individuals in public spaces, the group studies performers’ personal identities in a performance, and exercises the means of situating “sound” of individuals in a space.  And by immersing audience within the space where the active performance happens, it explores and toys with the uncertainty of dividing roles of audience and performers. The group has developed three immersive music theater projects since 2014, and successfully performed them in New York City in the past few years.
